OUR STORY
KINDRED ACRES FARMSTEAD
Kindred Acres Farmstead is a labor of love, where every aspect of our farm is a testament to our unwavering commitment to faith and family. Our story is one of humble beginnings and a deep-rooted connection to the Lord, and each other, and we are honored to share it with you.
In 2012, I bought a humble 14-acre piece of land—two homes, six acres of planted pines, and a gentle tug from the Lord I didn’t yet understand. I was just two years past being declared cancer-free in May of 2010, still regaining my strength and rebuilding my life.
Those first years here were slow and steady, while I was focusing on my health and healing. I tended the land bit by bit, not yet realizing the bigger purpose God was planting beneath the soil of this place and my heart.
From 2019 through 2023, I found myself back and forth between my home in Orlando and the farm—pouring into my youngest son, making sure he made it through college, and keeping life steady on both ends. It wasn’t easy, but those years shaped me… and they reminded me that a mother’s calling doesn’t end just because her children are grown. Even in the back-and-forth, the Lord kept the dream of this farm alive.
In 2020, I also stepped into real estate—a brand-new chapter that I somehow balanced between two homes, fencing projects, and farm chores. Looking back, I see God’s fingerprints all over it. That income, those listings, the timing… every bit of it helped me keep building this little farm, one project at a time.
About ten years after buying the property, the true vision finally settled in:
build a self-sustaining homestead that would bless my family long after I’m gone.
So, the real work began.
The pines were cleared.
A pasture was cultivated.
Cows came home.
And a donkey—a very opinionated one —arrived and declared himself ruler and protector of the fields.
Piece by piece, the land woke up and began to flourish.
In 2025, I opened our Airbnb and began renting the second home, taking real steps to ensure the property could support itself. And throughout the journey, God sent the right people—many of them with invoices but He provided every penny— and so very many helping with time, talent and equipment without charging me... and every pair of hands I needed. His timing has never once failed me.
Today, I see His faithfulness all over my family’s story.
In Cortnie—her joy in baking, her meticulous spreadsheets, and her first steps into self-employment.
In Kendall—celebrating her upcoming15th birthday and many others here, baking cookies, laughing in the kitchen… and proudly shooting her first deer right here on this land.
In my grandsons—Anthony and Kian—who are convinced I’m “rich” because I have a $400 Sam’s Club pool and two simple homes (a single-wide and a double-wide). And truthfully, I am rich—rich in their love, laughter, and the wide-open world they get to explore here. And Judah, the latest grand-blessing of ten... he has no idea what awaits him here, but his smiles and laughter bring us so much joy.
In my daughter in North Carolina, what a wonderful momma she is and her two little ones—who visit often as her schedule allows, I'm so grateful for those times... our campfires under the sky, swimming in Grandma’s pool, feeding the animals, and soaking in the peace only a farm can give.
In Kayla—Kendall’s momma—who designed the beautiful Kindred Acres logo that represents everything we are and everything we’re building and is the inspiration behind our sour dough bread.
And in my son-in-law, Kayla's husband, whose freezer stays full of venison harvested from these fields—another reminder that this land feeds us in more ways than one.
My sons visit when they can, and those evenings always end in Phase 10 matches that stretch on and on—full of teasing, laughter, competition, coffee, and the simple joy of being together.
Kindred Acres Farmstead has grown into more than a residence.
It’s a gathering place.
A refuge.
A home of healing, hope, and joy.
A future grounded in faith and family.
So here I am, nearing the end of 2025 with seven children (six I birthed and the oldest I love like my own from another mother and checks on me regularly), 10 grandchildren... and we are far from finished.... We have many plans for the future, for our community, for the Lord, and for all who choose to be a part of what we are building. This farm isn't for or about me, but for the Lord and for them, for generations to come.
And—Lord willing—long after I’m gone, my children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and generations following will gather here every Labor Day weekend to celebrate each other, reconnect, and remember how deeply I loved them… more than life itself.
This farm is more than land.
It’s answered prayer.
It’s testimony.
It’s legacy—built through God’s provision, strengthened by family, shaped by healing, and carried forward one faithful day at a time.
We thank you all for coming along beside and growing together with us.
